Curves in all the right places

I hit the op shops with a good friend this week. We programmed her navman and hit a suburb I have never been to before. Despite the awful cream of mushroom soup colour, the shape  of this  little table caught my eye straight away. I seem to have a bit of a thing for asymmetrical structures with curved ends, remember the curbside find?

I also really love a small project and tackled it with gusto yesterday, a few coats of white paint and isn't she beautiful now? The blue dish was an oppie find from a while back that I could not bring myself to photograph with a custard yellow backdrop. So nice with a freshly painted white wall behind it.

While I think of it, I did also learn a super cute crochet edge, and of course had to attack that pillow in a frenzy to test it out. Very much looking forward to doing a few more with this trim.

So while I had the white paint out today, I suddenly realized the day was warm, the breeze was decent and the paint was drying pretty quickly. No better time to get stuck into that huge dragging project to de- custard my living room.

The undercoat is done on that whole wall now, another corner is complete. Legoman thinks I am nuts as the renovation we are planning will require for some of these walls to be removed or replaced. He just does not understand what even another 6-12 months of daily custard will do to my sanity.

Lucky for op shopping, look at the rest of the haul from this week. A little pile of Golden books, a gorgeous blanket and a teeny tiny teacup set for miss Liongirl.

Hoping to be back soon with some white white white walls. In the meantime, linking in with Sophie for more glorious treasures,

  1. The table look gorgeous painted white, and the lines are very eye appealing. I really like the pop of color from the vase . Well done.

  3. You have such a great knack for finding brilliant things! The table looks gorgeous under your windows. I hope you'll keep them?

I agree about a freshly painted wall making all the difference. We have a hideous avocado-coloured loungeroom. I've been stifling the gag-reflex for more than two years.

  5. Love the table (I found a very similar bookshelf on the verge a couple of weeks ago. Yay!), your cushion and those newly whitened walls. I understand completely your aversion to custard yellow! We have a golden-yellow kitchen (sounds better than it is!) which I hate! We've lived with it for nearly three (long, vomit inducing) years! We decided not to repaint because we knew that the kitchen would eventually get the chop. This is the year! At last! and I can't wait to say goodbye to that revolting yellow!

  6. Your cream of mushroom soup description was so good; and I've never heard it before. I completely relate to finding certain colours difficult to live with. Well done on the painting and great oppie finds. Your table is groovy!

  11. Yellow must be common as we have ('citronella') yellow walls also. They were like that when we bought this house ten years ago and some we repainted the same colour about 6 years ago but have recently started (but then stopped)going through the house to update it. I really love your little table, it looks fantastic.

  19. Love the white white white walls! White's the perfect backdrop for a house like yours. You have so many lovely, colourful 'things' that you don't need a fussy colour scheme. The colour is in the art and the 'things'. My place is similar.
