Frock up Brisbane Fair

What a splendid thing it is to discover that not only has the sun finally decided to shine after weeks of rain, but there is a vintage fair on this weekend. I had missed this fair the last time it was in town, this time I was determined to go and have a poke around. And my goodness, I was not disappointed.

There were vintage frocks galore and  beautiful hand made bags,

lovely piles of vintage sheets and fabric,

some wonderful kitchenalia, and something very special, can you see it hiding at the back?

Yes, that would be a box set of 1971 Richard Scarry books,

four gorgeous hardcover books,

yep, they absolutely came home to our place. So many new stories to choose from at bedtime.

and these lovely pyrex ramekins came home too ( well the bottom four as I had the top two already). Now just to find the ever elusive turquoise one..... is it just me or is turquoise pyrex as rare as hens teeth?

So while we spend the rest of the weekend choosing our favourite stories, feel free to head over and enjoy the final day of the fair tomorrow. It's called the "Way We Wear Fair" and it's on at the Mt Gravatt Showground from 10-3 or head over to Frock up Brisbane  if you want to know more.

  1. I'm a big fan of Richard Scarry too - I've been known to hunt Ebay for some of the older books that I remember from my childhood, sometimes I find them, sometimes not. Looks like an awesome fair. Enjoy the last throws of the summer.xx

  3. That fair looks amazing and I am very jealous. That fabric! The kitchenalia!

My son loves Richard Scarry's books, he pores over them for hours looking at all the detail in each picture.

  4. I am drooling over this post. Love love the pyrex. Richard Scarry is very popular in our house at the moment. Tom loves trying to find gold bug. I wish we had vintage fairs like that. Happy Sunday! xo

  5. Oh it looks like a wonderful fair. I tend to get completely overwhelmed at these things and end up coming away with nothing so it's brilliant that your finds are so appreciated. Loving the ramekins x Jane

  7. I hadn't heard about that fair...it looks wonderful!
I had best keep my distance though...I have been hitting the Paddington Antique Centre too frequently lately and so there isn't much left in my vintage budget.
I do want some old spice jars though...

  10. Wasn't it good? I bought a new frock and necklace. So good. Love Vintage Fair is coming in a few weeks time and that's even better, so I've been informed. Not like I need anymore stuff...!

  11. Good grief! We had those too. You just stirred up a still puddle of memory!
I found some turquoise pyrex once and the turquoise came off in the dishwasher. When I checked, it was a special pyrex for Nestle. Sad!

  13. I still have my childhood Ricahrd Scarry books - they are in an appalling condition and I am sure no more Sellotape could be put on them ! Never Sellotape books people - take precious ones to a school librarian who will kindly fix with special tape. :)

  16. I need to get in the Tardis and come shopping down under. Richard Scary was a great find. I have a fabulous large bound book of his that was one of most treasured from childhood. I've been looking for it forever. The girls will have outgrown it by the time I actually find it. Happy belated birthday to your lovely boy. Fabulous birdy cake too.

  17. OK, for that I can understand not having time for visits on Saturday! Is it only on once a year?? So disappointed that I couldn't go with you, I would love to have seen all that vintage fabric in one spot, and all those treasures! We'll have to organise an outing to the Love Vintage one that's coming... Have you any details about when it's on?

  19. Mel, I have the ever elusive turquoise one, just one little one on it's own and it's in beautiful condition. I would much rather it become part of your gorgeous set for your new kitchen. Please email me your address and I'll send it off to you. You may not have my address still, it's karlynh@optusent.com.au xxx
