Mustard flower makeover

Today, I had a lucky find at the op shop. It inspired a very rapid creative makeover and I thought you might like to share the sunflowery joy. My mum gave me a bunch of sunflowers on the weekend and we have been enjoying their beaming faces ever since.

And then I popped into the oppie near school and found a roll of this still in the packet for $1. It is some kind of vintage contact with soft furry embossed mustardy flowers all over.

I was ferretting around the house looking for something, anything that I could justify contacting. And then I stumbled onto this magnetic board that was involved in the great demoulding incident  and came off a little worse for wear due to my complete lack of adequate dropsheets.

And in the quickest makeover of all time, five minutes later, presto. The little cat doorstop came from a local handmade store - you know the ones full of crochet baby jackets and booties manned by a team of dedicated fundraising crafty grannies. Given that he was corduroy and only one of Betsy's doors actually shuts properly, he obviously had to come home with me.

And what did miss Liongirl find in the oppie in a little yellow tupperware container? At first glance I thought this was some odd box of dominos with lots of missing pieces, but I liked the pictures and thought we could use them somewhere.

What a wonderful suprise to discover such a clever puzzle, perfect for a two year old who can count but doesn't recognize numbers. Just match the coloured stripe across the top of 3 puzzles and you've got it.

I knew all that decluttering was heading somewhere positive.

  5. Very cool finds. That puzzle looks especially cool.

I think we have the same cat! Of the real, yowling, furry kind. Have we talked about that before?

  6. Could not find your email address on your blog. Just wanted you to know that you've just been featured at my weekly Welcome Wagon Friday post. Which goes up, oddly enough, on Thursday mornings. (Can't recall how I got that started, but I've been doing this for over two years...)

  7. Love your makeover... I've been wanting a magnetic board to do something similar for ages but new ones are so expensive, and it seems a shame to pay a lot for a nice shiny new one if I am going to cover it with fabric! The vintage paper works great though :) The puzzle is fun too, she looks deep in thought! Jenny x

  10. I'm popping over from Brenda's Cozy Little House to say hello. I've just read through many of your posts. Great little makeover on that magnetic board. I've not seen contact paper like that before. Very nice! Looks like your kids had a great Halloween. So nice to be surrounded by wonderful neighbors. The cuddly little owl you and your son made is so cute. And I'm thinking that pear upside down cake is a must try. :) Hope your day is great. Tammy
