Nurse Nancy essentials
Liongirl has completely been swept up in the love for her favourite Little Golden book about Nurse Nancy. It has been given pride of place on her bedside table for weeks. It appears to actually be a reference book for nurse-hairdressers (she plans to do a double degree) in training. She has been bugging me for a little shelf just like Nurse Nancy has for weeks.
See Mama, Nancy has a tea set and bandages and a little red phone......
Since we had most of the accessories already, all we needed was a little shelf. Look what popped up at the oppie for $12 when I was dropping off bags of declutterings. Well, this is after a good clean and some undercoat.
A sample pot of a new Dulux colour called Tapioca and a little organising and voila. Apparently all we need now is a little red phone.
All the goodies on the top two shelves are op shop finds, the little toadstool money box turned up the same time as the shelf. This baby doll has already received her full quota of bandaids, needles and wet nappies. I am getting daily blood pressure checks and applications of yellow eyeshadow and glittery lip gloss.
Meanwhile the boy has been doing quite a bit of this,
and I have been spending my spare time trying to finish this two year cushion (oh the mortification). Can I add that crocheting in 30 degree summer heat is completely bonkers. At least it's not a blanket.
Aside from the de cluttering, I am on a project finishing frenzy. Watch this space.

Great job with the shelf. Aqua and red look so good together x
ReplyDeleteThe shelves look amazing, love the colour, not so sure about the name though?! I also love the white metal chair, it's gorgeous. x
ReplyDeleteYou little creative you! I wish my boys would give me the time to pursue some artistic goals. Harry got a 1/2 size guitar for XMAS which we had strung for a lefty. I don't have a musical bone in my body, but I've been practising for a couple of days and have managed to teach myself a few chords and now I can play a couple of songs (and I'm right-handed!) Just might get myself my own guitar.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the reno race is on as to who will start first. I've just got word that we should be ready to go out to tender in early Feb. xx
Oh l remember a nurse Nancy...think she was featured in my twinkle books. Loved her :-). What a qute little shelf and all the little details, sure your little girl must be pleased. Lego all over the upstairs floor here...3 boys and all into lego means l get to step on quite a bit of sharp lego ;-) blessings Pam
ReplyDeleteThat is just too cute!
ReplyDeleteI am only imagine how pleased she must be!
And PS I desperately wanted to be a hair dresser "when I grew up" however more than a few bald barbies convinced me otherwise and I ended up being a nurse!
That's so sweet! Love the paint colour too, great choice :)
ReplyDeleteLove it. You're a bit clever
ReplyDeleteHow sweet - I have a red plastic retro looking phone that I would like to give to Liongirl to complete her Nurse Nancy set up. Please email me your address and I will post it to you. I would love her to enjoy it as much as I did at her age.
ReplyDeleteI recognise that blah green carpet - good use of spare moments and love the crochet!
ReplyDeleteHa Trace, you don't miss a trick. Just whiling away a few hours doing my 3 years overdue GTT.
ReplyDeleteMiss Liongirl is lucky to have a Mum like you. I love her little shelf, looks like the perfect size for her to place all of her needed nursing implements:) Your cushion is looking great:) xx

I think there's a whole lot of finishing up going on in blogland at the moment. Wonder why everyone's being so disciplined. Will it last I wonder?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great mum you are making that wonderful shelf for your wee girl. Abslutely adorable. Nurse Nancy was one of my favourites when I was small. Just seeing her reminded me how fabulous the 5yr old me thought she was.

Very cute shelf in a very pretty colour. Doctor Dan has been a long time favorite around here. Don't get me started on the lego!Crochet looks interesting for "not a blanket"?
ReplyDeleteAs a little girl I so wanted to be a nurse when I grew up. Now at 39 I work as a registered nurse in a local hospital and really feel like I'm living the life I played as a little girl. I love this description of your darling girl. You are a wonderful mum to go to such trouble to make her imagination come to life!
ReplyDeleteOh man I had this toy first aid kit when I was 18 that I used as a purse and it was amazing. Liongirl totally knows what's up xx
ReplyDeleteGreat job with the shelf, the colour is lovely and looks fab with the red touches. I also love that your shoes are co-ordinating with your crochet ;)
ReplyDeleteThe shelves look great now, Liongirl is just like Nurse Nancy!
ReplyDeleteHow on earth did Dulux come up with the name Tapioca for that blue?
hello lovely! love your revamp, the colour is beautiful. way to go with the crochet too, i've never attempted it. i am indeed selling my screen prints and will have a big cartel store up and running in march. i still have that cake one for you if you want it and some wallpaper samples. are you free mon 21st for a coffee by any chance? i don't have a car but have a cute little cafe 'alcove' close by in wilston that we could hit for brunch. could even get sophie in on the action as we're practically neighbours. let me know! xx
