Conquering the fear of the machine

Haha, I did it! The machine is out of the box and not only did I work out how to thread all the bits, I actually started sewing today. This machine was a birthday present back in early 2009 and had never been unpacked. To be honest, initially it was just life with a toddler and a new baby getting in the way. Then we sold a house, bought a house and moved house. Then it progressed to some kind of avoidant denial phobia type thing. I haven't sewed for years and only ever on my mums very basic 30 year old machine so this fancy schmancy number completely intimidated me. I am also completely technologically challenged - (I am only on my second ever mobile phone which I  excitedly  chose  because of the flip open function as this was a serious upgrade from the  fluoro yellow Nokia ).But recently, even more intimidating was the impending social shame of not following through on wild and reckless blogging resolutions. Let's see if I can work out how to follow a pattern now.

Now as previously promised, here is vintage sheet of the day, probably my second favourite. My love of the colour brown goes way back and mustard, well we all know it is the new black. :

There is nothing nicer than hanging out a load of vintage sheets and dreaming about what to do with them. Especially when you have conquered your sewing machine issues. Several people suggested that she needs a name and I am totally on board with this but am a little stuck for ideas. Betsy is the house and Queenie is my bike, any suggestions for my little lilac sewing machine would be appreciated. I'm sure she'll be much more supportive of my button holing attempts if we name her too. Anyway no time to blog, must get excited and sew on.
